electromagnetic suspension dampers

the
client

Ganaio is building a smarter kind of EV suspension: a fully passive magnetic damper that improves ride performance while turning road motion into usable electricity. Designed to drop into existing vehicle platforms without major system changes, the technology aims to make EVs more efficient, more durable, and easier to integrate at scale. What makes the company interesting is its restraint—the regeneration is impressive, but the bigger story is elegant engineering that solves a real problem without adding complexity.

simplified message

Their damper turns the up-and-down motion from driving into electricity instead of letting that energy go to waste.

Ganaio’s industrial design was finalized but our team had to bring the CAD model to life with textures that held up when you got close to it. Little details like the copper wiring strands and individual magnets on the interioir helped make it feel tangible. Modeling the flow of electricity throughout the copper coils and out the device allowed us to showcase how Faraday’s law worked in a way anyone could visually understand.

I faraday’s law

A big job in the tech industry involves visualizing the mechanisms and scientific principles products rely on. In this case we were explaining Faraday’s Law. When you move copper coils past magnets there’s an electrical current that’s generated -unlocking free electricity from every bump in the road.

II intelligent complexity

The animation required to sell the closeups were complex, but the setup controlling it was simple. We hand-animated the Ganaio functionality in sync with the motion of each element of the car- including the wiring, wheel well, and engine parts. We created 1 core loop of the wheel bouncing up and down in sync with the electrical flow from Ganaio, creating detailed animation that could ultimately be controlled with just 1 slider.

III xray vision

The requirements of the project required showing the car interior from multiple vantage points. That’s why we built a setup that allowed us to switch between the physically accurate materials and stylized glass at ease. By animating fields of various shapes and sizes we were able to have total control of what we revealed. We utilized that as a storytelling mechanism to bring the viewer’s attention to the components most relevant to the story.

The Oregon coast environment for the piece was designed to set the proper tone for a product designed for electric vehicle owners. West coast idealism and gorgeous vistas seemed the most thematically appropriate to tell the story - while also being a nod to the founder’s natural habitat.
